Coffee Talk: Al Capone & Eliot Ness

  • Des Plaines History Center 781 Pearson Street Des Plaines, IL 60016 United States (map)

Due to unforeseen technical errors, the Des Plaines History Center will not be able to present the planned Coffee Talk lecture “Dracula’s Victorian Haunts” on October 14th. Instead, speaker Joseph Geringer will be giving a different program, “Al Capone & Eliot Ness: The Real Story of the Untouchables.” The new program will take place at the same time at 1:30pm on October 14th . Mr. Geringer, an actor, author and historian, details the government’s fight against the Capone Mob and their hold on the Windy City. This colorful discourse sweeps you back to the early 1930s; you can almost hear the rumble of streetcars, the syncopation of bluelight trumpets and the staccato of tommy guns. And you’ll meet “Scarface Al” and the Justice Department agent who helped bring him down.

All members of the public are welcome to attend “Al Capone & Eliot Ness: The Real Story of the Untouchables.” The History Center’s Coffee Talks are a series of adult programs meant to invite public participation and discussion on a broad range of historical topics per the History Center’s mission. This program is free thanks to a generous sponsorship from Village Bank & Trust. Donations are appreciated.
