The Des Plaines History Center’s next free activity for children ages 5 to 12 will be a School Day Off Adventure from 1:00pm to 3:00pm on Monday, May 28. The subject of this interactive lesson will be “The Civil War.” All children are invited to come and learn about the about the lives of Civil War soldiers and the tradition of decorating graves of fallen soldiers. This “Decoration Day” holiday would eventually become what we was observe today as “Memorial Day.”

Due to the generosity of VFW Post 2992, this activity will be free of charge for all children.
