Coffee Talk to connect to Chicago’s drawbridges
The public is invited to the Coffee Talk, “Chicago River Bridges,” Thursday, July 14, from 1:30-2:30 p.m. at the Des Plaines History Center, 781 Pearson Street.
Come learn about Chicago’s extraordinary bridges that made the Windy City what it is today—the drawbridge capital of the world. Discover the architectural and engineering significance of the bridges, past and present, mixed with the human dramas of bridge jumps, political battles, and destruction of bridges by flood, fire, and cattle. A $3 donation is suggested.
