Tending a garden

July 9: The afternoon will focus on how to care for a garden. Participants will meet at Garden Plot 132, which is located at High Ridge Knolls Park, 601 S. Westgate Road, in Des Plaines. Children will be taught how to tend a home garden and a container garden as well as learn about the history of victory gardens. The children will care for the garden plot using watering cans and various garden tools and learn a little about pest management.
