Bring home the smell of the season! Homeschool families are invited to discover how easy it is to make holiday sachets using pine needles, fabric, and thread at Homeschool Adventures Wednesday, December 3, from 1-4 p.m. at the Des Plaines History Center, 781 Pearson Street.
“Sachets are a wonderful holiday craft,” said Sarah DePuy, intern at the History Center. “Place them in storage containers or closets, and they will keep your clothes and valuables smelling fresh year round.”
To make this session extra-special, a few members from the History Center’s Quilting Group will be available to assist. “Come and learn sewing skills from experienced quilters as you create unique holiday gifts for friends and family,” DePuy added.
Other upcoming Homeschool Adventures programs will take place February 4 and March 4. All sessions offer local homeschool students the opportunity to participate in hands-on social studies activities. Programs last for three hours and cover an aspect of history and culture. Cost is $3 per child, $2 per child with a member.
While at the History Center, guests are welcome to view the travel exhibit, “Greetings from Des Plaines.” For more information, please call 847-391-5399 or visit www.desplaineshistory.org.
Homeschool Adventures is sponsored by the Des Plaines History Center and the Kiwanis Club of Des Plaines. The History Center gratefully acknowledges operating support from the City of Des Plaines, the Des Plaines Park District, its members, and other contributors.
