Documenting History in Progress
Here's your chance to contribute to the historic record! Future generations will ask "what was life really like during the Covid-19 Pandemic?" To document Des Plaines in this time, we’re teamed up with the Des Plaines Public Library and Des Plaines Memory to gather as much information as possible. These stories will go on the Des Plaines Memory website and be kept in the History Center archives for future research and exhibits.
Contribute as many times as you want: update your story as the pandemic progresses, document your neighborhood, favorite businesses, and anything you see going on in the local community!
Here’s some questions to get started:
How did the pandemic affect your day-to-day life? What did you do during the stay at home order? What were hardships you or people you know faced? Did you or someone you know contract Covid-19 and what was the illness like? What were some long-term consequences of the pandemic? What are some lessons you learned that could benefit future generations that may face similar circumstances?
Tell your story by filling out the form below OR if you have photos or documents with your story, email contact@desplaineshistory.org or upload directly to Des Plaines Memory.
